Privacy Policy

At FIZ Karlsruhe, your right to data security and protection of data privacy is a primary concern. We therefore strictly comply with the data protection laws in the processing of personal data of customers visiting our Web sites.

1. Your consent

Your entering your personal data when visiting our Web sites will be deemed consent to your personal data being processed and used for the performance and handling of the information services you order, as well as for other purposes explained below (in clauses 2, 3, and 6). You have the right to revoke your consent at any time and from then on. However, FIZ Karlsruhe will be entitled to continue to use your personal data for the period of time required for executing still outstanding orders if any.

2. FIZ Karlsruhe only asks for specific categories of personal data and uses these data only for specific purposes

On some of our web pages and/or for the purpose of online customer support, we may request information from you when you

• register as a customer
• place an order
• provide feedback online
• participate in a promotional offer or product test
• request an e-mail notification
• subscribe to a newsletter, mailing list, etc.

For those and other purposes, we have to ask you for your name, e-mail address, phone number, address and type of business as well as other personal information that is needed for you to register or subscribe to services. Your personal details, or information relating to your orders, will be used only for the specific purposes. Your information will be shared, however, with agents or contractors of FIZ Karlsruhe to the extent necessary to perform the information services you ordered, or render technical support you may need.Except for the purposes described above, your personal data will not be sold or disclosed to any outside organization for its use in marketing or other business purposes without your consent.
If you subscribe to newsletters or mailing lists you will have the right to cancel subscription at any time.FIZ Karlsruhe will advise you in good time of any anonymous, pseudonym-based, payment and ordering modalities as soon as these are available.

3. Log Files, Cookies

FIZ Karlsruhe uses log files containing customer IP addresses exclusively to

• a) gather basic demographic information for aggregate use
• b) analyze general use of our Web sites
• c) trace our customers’ movements through our sites in case of malfunctions
• d) carry out IP authentications on special request from our customers. For this purpose, the IP addresses are stored according to the domain, i.e. their localization on a network segment, but not allocated to individual computers, unless the customer expressly requests a more specific user identification and discloses the allocation of IP addresses and users beforehand.

FIZ Karlsruhe does not identify its customers or monitor their individual actions. Data analysis as described in the above mentioned clauses c) and d) is subject to the customer’s consent. FIZ Karlsruhe does not evaluate its customers’ IP addresses for any other purposes.

When using cookies, only those data of the communicating computer (user PC) are stored which are indispensable for the convenient use of FIZ Karlsruhe‘s services. If the communicating computer does not accept cookies, some of the selected system functions will not be available.

4. Third-Party Sites

Please note that third-party Web sites which may be accessed through our sites may request personal data from you. This Privacy Statement of FIZ Karlsruhe applies in no way to third-party sites. Any change from our Web site to other sites will be clearly indicated (by marking further links or by opening a new window with the provider’s URL address).Please be careful and responsible whenever you are online and protect your STN password or other information against unauthorized third-party access.

5. Data Security

FIZ Karlsruhe Web sites are protected by security measures against loss, misuse, and unauthorized alteration, and we use our best efforts to protect your personal data in compliance with the applicable German data protection laws. However, FIZ Karlsruhe cannot fully warrant the security of information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. If you wish, your data will be protected by SSL against unauthorized external access during the transmission.

6. Corrections, Updates and Choice/Opt-Out
