The chair "Databases & Information Systems" (DBIS) is part of the Faculty of Informatics at the University of Trier. The most important fields of research are: Database Systems, Information Retrieval, and Digital Libraries. One of its main activities is the operation and further development of "DBLP", the Digital Bibliography & Library Project. This project, which has been awarded several prizes, at present comprises more than 500,000 bibliographical records from all important subject areas related to computer science, focusing on database systems. At the same time, DBLP serves as a test environment for new technologies, e.g., for browsing and visualizing complex data.
