BIOTECHNO no longer be updated

29. November 2003

As from 2004, BIOTECHNO will no longer be updated. The database remains static. As a consequence, SDI profiles will no longer be run. An option for current biotechnology searches are the following databases:

BIOTECHABS/BIOTECHDS: focus on processes and applications of biotech-related research. About 30% of the documents are patent citations.
CEABA-VTB: focus on engineering aspects of biotechnology. Controlled vocabulary in German and English is available.

The following databases cover the entire spectrum of life science:

ESBIOBASE: the main topics addressed are molecular and cell biology, microbiology, genetics, protein biochemistry, plant and crop science, biotechnology, research on cancer, endocrinology and metabolism, and environmental science and ecology.
BIOSIS is the premier source of life science information covering journals, books, conferences, and patents. To restrict searches to biotechnolgy topics, use the thesaurus (/CT).
BIOSIS and CEABA-VTB contain CAS Registry Numbers for precise searching of chemical substances.

Weekly SDIs can be run in BIOSIS, BIOTECHABS/BIOTECHDS and ESBIOBASE. In CEABA-VTB monthly SDI runs can be set up.
